Software Developer – Fullstack

In this role, you’ll take full ownership of the entire software development lifecycle – from initial system design and development to deployment and ongoing performance monitoring in production. You’ll be tasked with creating reliable, high-performance systems that are integral to the daily functioning of our energy trading operations. Your work will not only optimize internal workflows but also have a tangible impact on the company’s overall success.

As a Software Developer at BD Energy, you’ll have significant responsibility from day one, working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where your contributions will be critical to our growth. This role offers the unique opportunity to wear many hats and develop a broad skill set across multiple technologies, including backend development with Kotlin or Python, frontend development using TypeScript/React, and cloud infrastructure management with Azure.

You’ll collaborate closely with traders and analysts, building tools and systems that optimize trading strategies and enhance decision-making processes. Your technical expertise will help us automate key workflows, ensuring that our systems remain scalable, efficient, and adaptive to a rapidly changing market landscape.

About Your Role

Your role will consist of building internal systems for other departments in the company – trading, compliance, analytics – and it will consist of the whole development cycle, from designing systems all the way to running and monitoring them in production.

Working at a new company, you will have responsibility from the get-go and an opportunity to learn and hone a wide array of technical skills.

Skills We Value For This Position

None of these are mandatory, but are nice-to-haves for this role

A relevant educational background
Some years of working experience, either full time or as a student
Experience with a JVM language – Java/Scala/Kotlin – but could be other languages as well
Experience with a cloud provider – Azure, AWS, etc.
A desire to learn any of these skills
